The above link is an extract from one of our foundational courses on statistical techniques, a foundational part of developing your organisation’s predictive analytical techniques. It introduces the key idea of reporting (how most organisations currently use their information: understanding what, testing explanatory hypotheses, understanding what has happened) versus modelling (understanding why, creating hypotheses, future prediction). We also consider causality vs correlation and introduce some foundational statistical measures: mean/mode/median, standard deviation, significance testing (through chi-squared test for A-B testing). Often this is delivered along with our predictive analytics foundation course.
